Two-day adventure to the Amish Country planned

The New Milford Senior Center is offering a unique trip for those looking to explore the Pennsylvania Dutch Country.
A two-day trip to the heart of Amish Country will be held Sept. 17-18, 2025.
The adventure will include an overnight stay in Lancaster, Pa., a visit to an Amish home for a traditional Amish dinner, a visit to an Amish-owned store and miniature horse farm, and a viewing of the production “Noah.”
The Amish are a group that practice a conservative form of Christianity. They are known for their simple living, plain dress, and rejection of many modern technologies. They make their living through farming, crafts, or other skilled trades.
Travelers will depart from New Milford on a deluxe motorcoach Sept. 17, where they will have overnight accommodations at Comfort Suites Amish Country.
That evening, travelers will be welcomed as guests into a real Amish home to experience an authentic Amish dinner.
Their meals are served family style and consist of fresh, homegrown ingredients. Amish food is often served with homemade bread and includes a variety of vegetables, potatoes, and meat.
Types of Amish food include Dutch apple dumplings, chow-chow, chicken pot pie, pork and sauerkraut, scrapple, shoofly pie, and Dutch cabbage rolls.
The following day, guests will visit the Li’l Country Store & Miniature Horse Farm in Ronks, Pa., where they can shop locally and family-made craft and gift items.
The store sells Amish crafts, baked goods, canned goods, homemade root beer, aprons, potholders, quillows, signed and dated baskets, birdhouses, and an assortment of dolls and toys for children.
The miniature horse farm offers a petting zoo, saddle and cart dies, and horse workshops.
After shopping, guests will head to Sight BE Sound Theatre for a live-on-stage production of “Noah,” which tells the Biblical story of the catastrophic storm on its way and Noah’s monumental task to build a boat big enough to save his family from a flood that will cover the entire earth.
The story will come to life with live animals on stage and in the aisles for this special 30th anniversary season.
The motorcoach will return guests to New Milford after the show.
The cost for the two-day getaway is $499 per double/triple and $569 per person based on 40 guests. The fee includes the motorcoach, one night at the hotel, one breakfast, one dinner, sightseeing, admissions per the itinerary, a Friendship Tours escort and driver, and driver gratuity.
