Planet Fitness invests more than $2 million in New Milford
Planet Fitness has officially opened its doors in New Milford.
A grand opening celebration, complete with a ribbon cutting and guest dignitaries, was held Jan. 29.
Entertainment included i95 radio, raffles, vendor tables with local businesses, and food.
Team members welcomed guests, including the mayor, members of the Corporation for New Milford Economic Development and the Greater New Milford Chamber of Commerce, community leaders, and prospective new gym members.
"We are excited to be here," said Mike Shapiro, senior regional vice president of operations for Planet Fitness, at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
"We offer a comfortable, safe space for everyone to come in and to not just work out physically, but also mentally as well too," he related to the crowd.
Mayor Pete Bass welcomed the business to the community.
"It's great to see this space being used again," he said.
In addition to the ribbon cutting and other offerings, Planet Fitness presented the New Milford Youth Agency with a $1,000 check to invest in the community's youth.
