Looking for a fun activity for yourself or your family?
Look no further than the Grill Chill ’n BBQ to be held Aug. 10 at the beautiful Harrybrooke Park in New Milford.
The event is sponsored by the New Milford Lions Club.
“There will be something for everyone,” said Bill Deak, first vice president of the Lions Club and president of Harrybrooke’s Board of Managers.
The event, which will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., will feature food, carnival games, vendors, a beer garden and more.
“We’re expecting a good turnout,” Deak said.
Lion Morgan Zerenner said the idea of the Grill Chill ’n BBQ came about from the Lions, which previously held a Country Fair and Car Show at the park as a fundraiser that benefit the club and Harrybrooke.
The event was shelved for a few years and the Lions decided to bring something back to the park to once again support both nonprofit organizations.
“We’re excited about being able to do this again,” Deak said, referring to the collaboration between the two parties.
The Lions Club has served the park through various community service projects. Among them, the park’s pavilions.
Patrons of the Grill Chill ’n BBQ will be treated to an assortment of entertainment.
Numerous vendors will be on hand, the Lions Club train will be up and running, and children’s carnival games will be offered.
Individuals who donate a pair of glasses, which will go the Lions Club’s Recycled Eye Glass Program, can play a free game.
The Lions will serve burgers, hot dogs, fries, macaroni and cheese and waffle cones.
Fresh lemonade, pretzels, and ice cream from Jesse’s Ice Cream Truck, will also be available.
For those 21 and older, a wine and beer in a beer garden will be offered.
Admission to the Grill Chill and ’n BBQ is $10 for adults, $6 for children ages 6 to 12 and free for children under 6.
In case of rain, the event would be held Aug. 11.
