Sullivan Farm
This 100-acre working farm represents a substantial piece of the town’s rich agricultural heritage. Now town-owned, this thriving farm is dedicated to inspiring young people – from middle schoolers to college kids – to reconnect with the town’s agricultural tradition and keep it going. Students help grow food and produce maple syrup as part of their training in 21st-century agro-business. During the schoolyear, students can take classes in blacksmithing at the farm’s on-site shop. Sullivan Farm offers a variety of educational programs, internships and public workshops on everything from composting to canning. Its Great Brook Sugar House produces maple syrup from 1,600 trees on properties donated by residents in nearby Kent. In true community spirit, Sullivan Farm gives to organizations that help those in need. In 2020, it donated 1,500 pounds of products to the New Milford Food Bank.
