Roger Sherman Town Hall
The town hall is steeped in history – it bears the name of one of New Milford’s most famous residents: Roger Sherman, a Founding Father. Sherman holds the distinction of being the only man who signed all four major documents that created the United States: the Articles of Association of the First Continental Congress, the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation and the U.S. Constitution. The brick town hall stands where the local businessman, lawyer and lawmaker once lived. The Colonial Revival-style building, which faces the town green, has retained its 19th-century look, with some original doors, windows and hardware still intact. It’s a historical backdrop to a bustling modern-day municipal operation.
