John Pettibone Community Center
This mid-century one-story building began as a grade school but has since been repurposed as a community center that also can be rented for a variety of functions (nonprofits can rent it for free). Outdoor enthusiasts can take advantage of the former school’s ballfields and playgrounds as well. The building, named for a beloved longtime teacher and administrator, houses the town’s Parks and Recreation Department and the Youth Agency, which offers a number of social services. During the coronavirus pandemic, the center sponsored COVID-19 vaccination clinics.
